Final Marathon Update and a couple of Boo Boos
Well, I did it! 27 miles! I wanted to make it to 30 miles, but I sort of banged up my knees while at the Tigers game yesterday. It's so embarrassing how it happened.
First of all, I think I'm going to start wearing a knee brace when I run. Near the end of my run, my knee has been starting to hurt. Anyway, yesterday because of the cold weather, my knees were stiff. They're doing a lot of construction at Arrowhead, so we had to walk clear around to the other side...I know, don't you think we should have gotten to ride a tram or something?! I digress.
We had really good seats, and we had to go down a lot of steps which did not help the knee situation. Once we finally made it to our seats, we stood the entire time. The first half of the game was slow, but the second half the Tigers came out to play!
I got so excited jumping around and hugging everyone, I flung myself onto the seat in front of me ramming my right knee. Not to leave the left one out, stupidly I did the same thing in the fourth quarter when they took the lead again (only this time it was the left knee)!
When we got home, my knees were hurting (no kidding!). I now have two huge knots (boo boos), one on each knee...and the Tigers still lost :(

Weren't we just at the dr's office?
The week of Halloween, I posted about Jackson having an ear infection. Today, I am posting about Jackson having a double ear infection. UGH! I think this is the third one since August.
He had a low grade fever over the weekend, and it never broke. By Monday afternoon, when we got to the dr's office, his fever was almost 104. I seriously did not think he felt that warm! I figured it was his ears because...well, because I think I'm a dr myself sometimes! Anyway, it was his ears (both of them!), and he was prescribed an antibiotic.
We picked up his meds from the pharmacy and headed home. By the time we got home an hour later, his fever had broken! Yea!! Unfortunately, the dr says if the ear infections continue, he has to go to the ENT.

I heart Reese's Peanut Butter Christmas Trees
I love them so much that I ate 1/2 of a 1 lb, 10 oz bag of them. Can you believe I have a really bad stomach ache?

Jackson-isms
Driving to KC for one of my classes, the golden arches were barely in view...Jackson yells, "Donals...fren fry". We apparently eat out way too much.
Me: Not right now.
Jackson (still yelling): Why
Me: We're going to wait until we get to KC, ok?
Jackson: OK
Tanner (joining our conversation a little late): McDonalds...I want McDonalds!
Me: Darn!
There was no way they were going to wait another hour.
Me: Would you like chicken nuggets?
Jackson: ichin uggets
Another night...
Me: I'm hungry. What do you want to eat?
Tanner: McDonalds.
Me: I want Burger King. I want onion rings. Jackson, what is your choice?
Jackson: Booga King.
Booga King, it is.
Me: Not right now.

Another Marathon Update
Thursday - 1.5 miles
Friday - 1.5 miles
Saturday - 3 miles
Sunday - 3 miles
I am at 17 miles total! I've even started running 1/2 the time...5K here I come!
My pants fit better. I'm wearing pants I bought last year that were too small when I bought them (I thought it would be motivation for me to get moving!).
While I was out walking/running, it was snowing!

It's fitting
...that I am doing Marathon for a Month to support a man who has cancer. This week, I found out my grandmother has the disease. The same week I started walking for the cause, she was diagnosed. There is nothing that can be done by the doctors. There is something that can be done by me (and you, too). Prayer.
My grandmother's life has been amazing. She is an example of what it is to be God's servant. She is incredibly generous and loving. She's always writing people notes of thanks and praise to brighten their day. She scoots around the nursing home in her Jazzy toting my little boys in her lap...which they absolutely love. She loves Tuesday morning Bible study. She loves sharing Jesus with others.
When she was 15, she was in bed for 3 months because of polio. Because the disease weakened her bones and muscles, she has broken her legs a total of 7 times. She's even broken her hip. Shortly before I was born, she had a benign brain tumor removed. Just two years ago, we were told she was not going to make it out of the hospital when she came down with pneumonia and developed MRSA as a result of her hosptial stay. She was in the hospital a month and two weeks after she returned to the nursing home, she was out and about in her Jazzy. Now as she faces the enemy that will likely take her life, she is smiling. She is so thankful that the Almighty has blessed her with such a full life with a few minor obstacles. She is thankful that He gave her the strength to fight time after time. I pray for His continued strength in her. I pray for healing.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
...inside my house. I love the Christmas season, and I like for it to last as long as possible. My husband won't let me put up the tree yet, but I have started putting up the stockings, a few wreaths, and a manger scene.
I wanted to change the look of my blog to reflect my spirit, but the Christmas templates won't be updated til Monday. Darn! I really wish it would snow! I've been reading some other blogs, and it is snowing where they live. I love snow! I don't like to drive in it. I just like to look at it. It's so pretty, don't you think?

...and I started off so well!
In the first two days of this week, I was runnin'. I ran and I ran. Ok, so it was more like I walked and I walked (3 miles), and I did get in a 1/4 mile run...yea me!
However, this was Tuesday, and it is now Friday. I have eaten A LOT! I have not run at all! eating+no running=tight pants! UGH!

Marathon for a Month
Today is the day. The day I will start running (or more likely walking) 26.2 miles. No, it will not be all at once. Maybe by the end of the month I could do it all at once...highly unlikely, but maybe. Just call me Katie.
I am running (walking) for a cause. It's all about helping a man who is a husband and father. He has cancer. Donate $20. Run (or walk) Marathon in a Month. Get t-shirt. Contact Cari using link under favorite blogs for more info.
This is a great idea! It's a way to do something good for others, while doing something good for you too!!

Happy Howoween!
I had to take Jackson to the doctor on Monday because he was wheezing so bad. He was not only given a steroid for the wheezing, but he was given an antibiotic for an ear infection! Thankfully, he has been acting fine.
However, yesterday (Halloween)daycare calls: Jackson threw up, and he hasn't eaten much today. They will keep him until I get out of school because he is acting normal. Thank goodness!
I pick him up from daycare at 3. He seems fine. No more throwing up. Yea!
Not sure why he threw up in the first place, but I'm thinking when they said he's hasn't eaten much he had eaten a few too many sweets. We trick or treated for 2 1/2 hours. The boys had so much fun!!!
Jackson (Yoda): Tweat, pease. Tanks!
Tanner (Darth Vader): Trick or treat. Happy Howoween!
Do you think I have pictures? Of course not! I forgot my camera!! Not that I'd be able to download the pictures anyway. However, my mom and my sister took pictures, so hopefully I can post some at a later date.

Politician campaigning say what?
Thursday nights I have class at 6, so I have a 2 hour drive after I get off work. I stopped at home to grab a few things and check my craigslist account (I'm trying to get rid of stuff!). Anyway, a local politician decided to campaign at my door during this process. He seemed nice, and he could tell that I was in a hurry.
politician: Not a good day to campaign the day before Halloween, huh? It looks like you're all ready.
me (confused): Sure, we're excited about going trick-or-treating tomorrow. Can I just take a flier? I'm getting ready to head out the door.
He hands me a flier.
me (shaking his hand): It was very nice to meet you! Have fun campaigning!
politician: Have fun at your Halloween party!
me (still confused): Thanks.
What?! He thought I was dressed up for Halloween! I was wearing this dress
and these boots
and he thought I was dressed for Halloween...as what? I wore this to school, and I have worn it to church!
Needless to say, I will not be voting for him on Tuesday!
I'm not sure why the pictures of my outfit aren't coming up, but know that it did not look like a costume! :)
